Aerial topographic mapping

Existing-conditions surface and contours for a site, tied to control, delivered in the CAD format your civil team is already working in.

We fly the site with RTK positioning and ground control, build a surface from the imagery, and deliver contours and a triangulated surface — typically 72 hours after the flight.

Delivered as

Contours
1 ft or 2 ft, or the interval your plans call for
Orthomosaic
GeoTIFF at 0.0 in/px, georeferenced to the same system as the surface
Point cloud
LAS 1.4, unclassified, if you want the underlying data

What we need from you

§ Inputs
  • 01Site limits — KMZ, SHP, DWG, or a described boundary
  • 02The coordinate system and datum your plans use
  • 03Required vertical accuracy, or tell us the use and we will advise
  • 04Contour interval
  • 05Any existing control on the site
Missing something on that list? Send what you have. We flag gaps during plan review, before quoting — not two days into the job.

How it runs

§ Process
  1. 01

    Boundary + accuracy

We confirm limits, datum and the accuracy the deliverable actually has to hold.

  2. 02

    Control

Control set on site, or tied to control you provide, with checkpoints held back.

  3. 03

    Flight + processing

Flown at the GSD the accuracy requires, then processed and checked against the held-back points.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Surface, contours and ortho in your portal, written for your software.

Questions we get

§ FAQ
What accuracy can you hold?
With RTK plus ground control on bare or lightly grassed ground, ±0.1 ft, verified against held-back checkpoints. The capabilities page lists the conditions that figure depends on.
Which coordinate system do you deliver in?
Horizontal is NAD83 or WGS84. Vertical is matched to your plan set — tell us what the drawings are on and we deliver to it. Plan or site coordinates are supported at no additional charge.
Can you map an active site?
Yes. We coordinate the flight window with the superintendent and work around equipment and traffic control.
Is this a boundary survey?
No. This is topographic mapping of existing conditions. Property corners and legal descriptions require a Texas-licensed professional land surveyor.
